i would like to introduce to you chris lomen, the founder of rolling to rebuild (otherwise known as r2r).  chris is going to roller blade across the united states in order to raise $100,000 to rebuild the schools in haiti.  a lot of money has been donated to the relief efforts in haiti providing food, first aid, shelter, etc. etc.  while this addresses the short term needs of the population of haiti – chris is thinking long term.  without an education system in place to educate the youth of haiti, a cycle of poverty is inevitable; therefore, it is chris’s goal to raise money for the youth and future of haiti.  i would highly encourage you to visit his website and learn more about his goals.  if possible, please consider donating any amount that you’re able to as every penny counts.  on top of that, if you know of any organizations or business that would be interested in a sponsorship opportunity please feel free to contact chris or myself and we’ll see if we can’t make that happen.

here is the r2r website.

the photos you see here are from a session that i did for chris.  it was a great day that worked out perfectly.  we drove out about ten miles from the st. olaf campus to a nice open stretch of road where we could get some cool backgrounds.  unfortunately, despite it being a sunday afternoon, traffic was heavy and that meant playing an interesting game where we would quickly run out into the middle of the road when the coast was clear, set-up the lights, snap a few quick photos, and rush back towards the shoulder to avoid a passing car!  despite the hectic nature of the shoot, we got some really great images for chris and the r2r website!  i also want to thank joe scaramuzza for being my assistant that day and carrying around my lights and reflectors… and letting us know when we were in imminent danger of being hit by a car!   : D

again, if i could encourage everyone who keeps current on my blog to go check out the r2r website and perhaps donate a few dollars (it’s tax deductible), we could all help make the future and quality of life of those in haiti infinitely better!

thanks for reading and look for the first wedding blog post of the year in the next few days,
evan
