wedding | john and denise | Lake Minnetonka, MN

heyo constant reader (to steal a phrase from stephen king)!

my offering for today is a wedding from last weekend on lake minnetonka.  i want to introduce everyone to the newly weds john and denise!  the second john contacted me asking me to shoot his wedding i knew we were gonna get along wonderfully.  john and denise are both avid members of the cycling and mountain biking communities – for people who don’t know a whole lot about me, i also am an active member of the cycling community and i can often be found biking around the twin cities – this meant we were a match made in heaven.  well, not quite as good a match as john and denise are for each other but suffice to say we get along splendidly!  anyhoo, the morning of the wedding i’m sure everyone was nervous all around as it was cloudy and there were the occasional sprinkles; but, in the end, the weather turned out to be gorgeous!  my assistant, melissa, and i arrived about an hour early to scout around excelsior for some awesome locations and awesome locations we found.  i was lucky enough to catch the historic trolley in downtown excelsior and convince them to stay an extra half-hour for us to get some great photos.  as soon as john and denise arrived, we whisked them over to the trolley and got them passionately making-out in it after some gentle encouragement!   :- )  afterwards we went a block or so away to the bike path that intersects excelsior and started taking some pics down there.  oh!  i almost forgot to mention the awesome wedding gift that john got for denise.  john got her a bike called the madonna that was made by the a famous bicycle artist named girard!  so, we got that on out and took some sweet pics with that and then rushed back to the docks.  over there we met everyone’s respective families and got the bridal party/family photos done in record time.  before i knew it we were on the boat the ceremony was starting.  it was amazing as you could tell the pure and gigantic amounts of love pouring out of john and densise as they were standing in front of their friends and family.  as soon as the pastor said you can kiss the bride was there ever big kiss shared between the two newlywed love birds.  after that, the boat set-out for lake minnetonka.  everyone started to relax and grab a beer.  about a half-hour into the cruise dinner was served with a delicious assortment of veggies and a great choice between beef or wild rice stuffed chicken (my personal favorite – it was ammmmmaazzzingly good).  not too soon afterwards the first dance started and john and denise took the floor (did i mention denise is a dancer?) and boy did they look great together.  then… then started the bouquet toss and the garter throw!  this has to be one of my favorite garter throws ever!  firstly, while john was pulling it down with his teeth denise decided to get super dramatic and began to make goofy faces which just made it all the much better!  then john flicked it and one of denise’s nephew’s got it and started to do an awesome dance with john and denise.  easily one of the highlights of my day.  overall, this was easily one of the most memorable weddings and i wish john and denise a long and happy life together… and don’t forget to keep biking!!!!!!         :-p

here are the pics everyone (65 of them),

  1. Great job with all of these. I figured John would want something bike related incorporated into the photos. Cool Ring shot too. I’m sure they will be thrilled with them.
