Everyone needs a hobby, as of late my hobby has been leather working! I finally feel confident enough to start showing off some of my creations. I still have tons to learn but here are a few of the pieces I am most proud of. At the beginning of each new project will be a short description outlining what went into making it, the materials, and why I like it. Let us know what you think or leave some feedback either here or on the facebook page.
A leather messenger bag/backpack in burgundy. Ever single stitch you see is hand-stitched. My hands were immensely sore after this project. That being said, it is my largest project to date and is really rugged in regards to build quality. Stainless steel hardware and calfskin.
The strap can be removed to make it into a sort of briefcase.
The inside with a few stingray leather products.
A bi-fold wallet made out of calfskin and goatskin. The outside is rugged and durable while the red goatskin interior is supple. I still need to get better at cutting goatskin as it is so soft it is difficult to cut perfectly. It has white contrast stitching.
One of my favorite creations to date. This wallet is designed with simplicity in mind. Brown calfskin exterior with red stitching. It’s complimented by a red/burgundy goatskin interior. During the initial design I was nervous as to whether the money/cards would be secure but after the break in period where the leather has molded to its final shape, this wallet is classy, simple, and secure!
My latest project is one for all those people who love fine leather and raw denim. Made of a combination of brown calfskin and an 8 0z raw indigo denim, this wallet will age in two different ways. With your leather softening and developing a patina while your denim fades at stress points and develops a character all its own. White contrast stitching provides a bold accent to this piece!
A walnut belt that I made to match a pair of Allen Edmond shoes I own. Instead of spending a ton on a really nice belt, I just made one!
