Our contest was a HUGE success. We got a ton of adventurous and unique submissions. I want to pass along our thanks to all the participants and everyone who took the time to vote at all hours of the night! Let me extend a special thanks to our winner of the $3500.00 wedding package – Jennie H. and William F. I had the opportunity to speak briefly to Jennie this morning and I asked her, “what were your secrets to getting 3500 votes?” Here is what she said:
“Will and I went to lots of efforts to win!
1. We held a voting party in which we got a bunch of people together and had them vote every hour!
2. My family has lots of adults in it, and they wanted to see me win!
3. Will and I woke up every hour at night and entered in our votes. ( Will and I were very excited to get more than 2 hours sleep at a time! )
4. I work the night shift and I had all of my nurse, respiratory therapists, and doctors friends vote every hour during the night! Nurses can really band together!
5. My mom and dad emailed [some] of their friends and got them to vote.
6. Will and I sent individualized messages to almost ALL of our facebook friends! They responded great! Will and I put lots of effort in the first days of the competition, but on Wednesday we didn’t have to “pester” anyone….they were all active in the competition and wanted a WIN…we just thanked everyone all day long!
7. Will took a few half days from work while I slept to get the fans on board!”There you have it. The secrets of success straight from the, proverbial, horses mouth! I think the biggest take away from this is that your network is your key to winning. What especially stood out was how Jennie and Will took the time to message each of their friends individually. That kind of personal attention is what can make or break a voting campaign.
